Welcome to the Office of Undergraduate Studies Website!
In the Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS), “our students are our work.” From new student orientation through graduation, we are available to answer questions, help solve problems, identify exciting opportunities and help our students fully embrace the intellectually rich and rigorous academic experience that is Howard!
OUS is the manifestation of President Wayne A.I. Frederick’s commitment that all Howard University students have an academic experience that exceeds their expectations.
Academic performance in the classroom is at the center of every student’s university experience. However earning a degree requires that students are informed about academic requirements, policies, and procedures and have access to resources that will help them to consistently make good decisions.
In collaboration with our faculty, undergraduate schools and colleges, and the Enrollment Management offices (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar), OUS embraces a holistic and integrated approach to student success. We believe that investment in our students will result in more students who remain on track for graduation, more students who pursue opportunities that enhance their academic journey, and more students who complete their degrees early or on-time.
The website is designed to be a valuable resource for undergraduate students and the entire Howard University community. From retention counseling to career development programs, you are always just a click away from accessing an array of services and opportunities. Students can access critical information about academic advising, general academic requirements, academic support resources, career services, honors programming, scholarships and fellowships, and university academic processes and procedures.
Students, I invite you to bookmark this website and spend some time browsing the pages. Become familiar with those resources that are aligned with your academic and professional goals. Apply to become an orientation leader, view a study skills webinar, search for scholarships and fellowships, register for a resume writing workshop, or schedule an appointment to meet with a student success counselor who will help you develop a customized plan for academic success.
The Office of Undergraduate Studies has three primary locations:
